The clash with Baskonia will be the first of two games in Spain for our team this week.

Pre-game breakdown

Even the trademark Aeroflot charter flight had two destinations in its name Vitoria Madrid. The Army Men are set to visit Real on Friday as well.

All healthy players went on the road. Will Clyburn (knee) and Mikhail Kulagin (foot) stayed in Moscow to continue their rehab.

There have been eight MVP of the Rounds this season and half of them are owned by players in this game. CSKAs Mike James was the MVP in Rounds 1 and 8; Baskonias Toko Shengelia in Rounds 4 and 6. Shengelia leads the league in average performance index rating at 22.6 and James is third at 21.1.

Pre-game quotes

Dimitris Itoudis, CSKA head coach:
We start the double-week with two road games in Spain in a row. Our first game is against Baskonia. They dont have good results lately, but they remain a tough team. They missed some significant players in previous game who, I believe, will be back to play against us. Baskonia will probably look for a redemption. This is a team that always fights on boards, they have size in all positions and they like to run. They have good pick-n-roll players, good post players, Shengelia is dominant over there, they also have great shooters. So it will be another tough EuroLeague game.

Darrun Hilliard, CSKA guard:
I am excited to play in Vitoria, its going to be a fun game. Both teams are going to play hard, it is going to be a tough road game for us, hopefully we get the win.
